Ingredients
- 2 cups of beans
- Fresh pepper (to taste)
- 1 bulb of onion
- Salt (to taste)
- 1 litre of vegetable oil, and
- Water
Steps for preparing Akara
- Soak the beans for few minutes.
- Scrub the beans peel very well, add some water to allow the peels float and then sieve.
- Add pepper and onion into the beans and blend to form a nice batter.
- Add oil to the frying pan and pre-heat.
- Then add salt (to taste), scoop the beans batter into the hot pan and maintain a uniform shaped Akara.
- Flip the Akara once the underside has turned golden brown and allow to fry the top side as well before you remove. With this, the bean cake is done.
