Cooking ingredients for breadfruits
- 4 cups of breadfruits (ụkwa)
- 2 spoonfuls of edible potash
- A spoonful of Salt
- Bitter leave
Steps in preparing breadfruit
- Soak and wash the breadfruit thoroughly with cold water, then put in your cooking pot (preferably pressure pot) to cook faster.
- Add enough water and allow for some time. (The level of water should be an inch above the breadfruit).
- Then add the water sieved from the edible potash into the pot, followed by a spoonful of salt (to taste) and allow to simmer. This will soften the breadfruit quicker.
- Add few sliced bitter leaves, allow for about 2 minutes to cook well.
